Uncertainty can be a part of life. But if we second guess ourselves to the point that we question our heart’s desires, we can get trapped in doubt and remain stuck and end up living an unfulfilled life.
Where are at you with your heart’s desires? Do you have a dream you wake up and live for or has your dream fallen by the wayside because you doubt your self-worth? Do you question whether or not God even cares about the desires of your heart? Are you settling instead of thriving? Perhaps you feel unworthy of receiving or believe that God’s blessings are for a chosen few only.
If feelings of doubt or unworthiness are keeping you from living your dreams, be assured that even as God cares for the birds, He cares more for you. Matthew 10:31 says, “You are more valuable than many sparrows.” God’s Word, Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” is a promise you can count on.
Would you like to trade doubt for your dreams and become all you were created to be, but you don’t know where to start? Perhaps you are afraid of what it will take to see your dreams come true? Perhaps you wonder if there’s even a way out of the struggle you are facing. Or perhaps you are afraid of failure because you’re uncertain of what God is calling you to do.
If so, let God’s promise, “With God all things are possible,” Matthew 19:26 fill your heart with hope to believe God can make a way even if it seems there is no way.
The key, however, is to make your request known to the Lord, listen to His Holy Spirit’s prompting and then put your trust in Him by following His command as did the lame man in John 5:2 who for thirty-eight years laid by the pool waiting for a miracle, making excuses, blaming others, and pitying himself until Jesus told him to get up. “Jesus asked, ‘Do you want to get well?’ ‘Sir,’ the invalid replied, ‘I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.’ Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’ At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.”
Lacking confidence in my self-worth and God’s love for me, I allowed doubt to make its way to the door of my soul, gave it attention and let it take root. I fell for Satan’s lie that I was unworthy of my heart’s desires. I remained stuck in situations I struggled to fix on my own instead of listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
After trading my dream of a future I had hoped to have for doubt, I spent years in a place of lack and darkness, lying hopelessly and helplessly within the walls of what I believed was my security until the longing in my heart for its passions could no longer be silenced. It was then that I began an endless search for a way out of my misery. I ran into one dead end after another.
Having nowhere else to turn and my heart continuing to beckon for its desires, I cried out to the Lord in a desperate plea for help.
Upon asking for help, I opened my heart to scripture; my spirit awakened to truth. Through God’s Word I found hope and claimed His promises as mine. God’s light shined within! Given strength through the power of His love, mercy and grace, I followed God’s command to get up and embrace the struggles He allowed in my life to teach me and draw me closer to Him.
Empowered by the Holy Spirit, I broke through the walls that held me back, and one by one, I let go of the lies and attachments of doubt I held tightly to in exchange for God’s love to fill my heart with hope once more.
By putting my trust in the Lord, I grew in my faith and built a relationship with Him, witnessing His faithfulness to provide for all my needs. Blessings were mine to receive!
Blessings await you too, dear one!
Where in your life is doubt holding you back and keeping you from living your dreams?
Let the promise of God from Matthew 17:20 dwell deep in your soul, “He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’”
By choosing to let go of doubt in exchange for truth and hope in the Lord, you too will be empowered to get up and embrace your struggle. It is then you will hear your Master say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!” Matthew 25:23
If you’re ready to trade doubt for your dreams and receive blessings, trust Philippians 4:13, “I am able to do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I invite you to take a journey with me by reading my story of how I broke through doubt, lies, excuses, and self-pity through the power of the Holy Spirit and grew in my walk with the Lord that led me to blessings indeed.
When you ask in God’s name, according to His will and believe with an expectant faith, He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Through His power, you can become all you were created to be! “Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” Ephesians 3:20
