Twenty-one years ago on this day I was blessed with a son to love and care for. Admiring in awe the gift I was given, I knew eigtheen years wasn't going to be enough time to shelter my child under my wings. My son's eighteenth birthday has come and gone. I learned that raising a child isn't so much about protecting them as it is about teaching them how to spread their wings to fly and learning right along with them to spread our own wings. I learned that a parent's job doesn't end when their child turns of age. I learned how much fun it can be to stop and smell the roses even past our children's preschool years. I learned that what we teach our children makes a huge difference in their lives as well as in our own lives and that blessings come even from the struggles. I learned through inviting the Lord to show me the way, I raised a son who gives in return what he has been given. Having no regrets, I thank God for the beautiful child I was given to love and care for and to be loved and cared by. I look forward to the days ahead with my son as we both continue to learn and to grow. I look forward to the blessings yet to come! Happy birthday to my son!
